Scottish Conservative shadow health secretary Dr Sandesh Gulhane MSP said: “These appalling statistics expose an NHS in meltdown on John Swinney’s watch – with more than two thirds of patients still waiting over four hours to be seen at A&E in high summer.
“SNP incompetence has left thousands of families grieving loved ones who needlessly died before their time.
“Hardworking frontline staff are working tirelessly for their patients, but they’ve been left fighting with one hand tied behind their backs because of the SNP’s abysmal workforce planning and Humza Yousaf’s botched recovery plan.
“Our health service can’t keep lurching from crisis to crisis, but John Swinney and Neil Gray still don’t have a credible plan. That’s not leadership – it’s a dereliction of duty.
“Winter is fast approaching and our NHS is on the brink of collapse. SNP ministers must stop the spin and adopt our common-sense plans to slash bureaucracy, axe the pen-pushers and surge resources to the frontline.”
